What Happens to Your Wedding Invitation Page After the Event

Most people think of a digital wedding invitation as a pre-event tool - something you share, guests read, they RSVP, and then the day arrives. But the invitation link lives on in your guests' WhatsApp chats and message histories long after the last ceremony. What they see when they open it after the event matters more than most couples realise.

The problem with most invitation platforms post-event

On most digital invitation platforms, when your plan expires the link either shows a generic error page, redirects to the platform's home page, or - worst of all - shows the original invitation as if the event is still upcoming. None of these is a good experience for a relative who opened the link to share a memory or show a friend.

The automatic thank-you note

The right approach is simple: once the last event date has passed, the invitation page automatically switches to a thank-you message. The music, the photos and the blessings wall are still there - but the hero of the page becomes a warm, personal message from the couple.

Something like: "Thank you for celebrating with us. Your love and blessings made every moment more meaningful."

This message can be set in advance from the invitation's manage page, so the couple can write something personal rather than a generic template. The switch happens automatically on the morning after the last event - no action needed.

Why this matters for your guests

Guests share invitation links. They forward them to family members who could not attend. They open the link again weeks later to find the venue address for the photos. When they land on a graceful thank-you page instead of a broken link or an event that appears to still be happening, it leaves a final positive impression of the entire celebration.

How long does the invitation page stay live?

How long your page remains accessible after the event depends on the plan you chose:

  • Super plan - The page is live for 7 days from creation. After it expires, guests see a branded expiry page explaining the invitation is no longer active.
  • Grand plan - The page is live for 60 days, giving you time to share post-event photos and let the blessings wall fill up in the weeks after the wedding.
  • Royal plan - The page is live for 180 days - six months of post-event memories, photo sharing and a permanent record of the blessings your guests left.

What if your plan expires before you are ready?

If your Super plan's 7 days run out and you want to keep the page live, upgrading restores it immediately at the same web address. No data is lost - your RSVPs, photos, blessings and event details are all preserved. The couple who chose Super for the free trial and upgrades to Grand after the wedding keeps everything intact.

The branded expiry page

When a plan does expire, Invity shows a branded page that acknowledges the occasion - the wedding title, the type and the date - and explains that the invitation is no longer active. For hosts, it shows upgrade options. For guests, it thanks them for visiting and invites them to create their own invitation. It is never a cold 404 or a redirect to a generic page.

Setting your thank-you note on Invity

From the Invite & Thank page in your manage dashboard, you can write a personal thank-you note that appears automatically once the event date passes. You set it before the wedding - it goes live on its own. On a Grand or Royal plan, you also have 60 or 180 days of post-event page life for guests to revisit the link, view the gallery and add belated blessings. Start your invitation free and plan the whole guest journey from first share to final thank-you.
